50 Founders is Born

It’s an exciting time to start a company!

We have entered a new era of global innovation and connectedness made possible by a surge of entrepreneurial activity. A new generation of workers has the opportunity to pass on traditional 9-5 jobs and instead strike out on their own, founding companies that with the potential to change the world. However, being a founder is no small challenge.

50 Founders is an opportunity for seasoned entrepreneurs to publicly share their experiences and advice It’s an opportunity to give-back by supporting a new generation of aspiring and motivated founders.

The Idea:

We are inviting 50 inspiring founders to submit one-page “chapters” to co-author a book. Sample chapter write-ups might include lessons learned, advice or a humorous anecdote. Once we have assembled and edited all the chapters, we will publish the book via a print-on-demand service like Lulu, promote it, and donate all proceeds to a charity supporting entrepreneurship. We’re currently evaluating appropriate charities, and if you have a suggestion, please leave a comment on this post.

The inspiration for 50 Founders comes from the success of other co-authored books such as the Age of Conversation and We Are Better Than Me. 50Founders hopes to rally a community of founders together to offer advice and support for entrepreneurs worldwide.

How Do I Get Invited?

Chapter authors are invitation only. If you wish to recommend someone, please email us with your suggestion founders@50founders.com or comment on this post.

I Was Not Invited! Can I Still Participate? [Answer = Yes!!]

Even if you are not an invited author there are two ways you can contribute:

Tweets: We’re inviting non-contributing authors to submit quotes and advice via Twitter. We’ll take a large cross section of these quotes and add them to the 50Founders website and the best will even make it into the book! In order for us to detect your tweet, please include “#50founders” in your message on twitter.

e-Chapters: If you are not one of the invited 50 authors you can still write a chapter and post it to your blog. We’ll give you some link-love on the blog, and include your URL in the “Acknowledgments” section of the book.

Invited Author Deliverable: One 8.5″ x 11″ page containing 400-600 words. You can include diagrams and photos as long as your chapter still fits on one page. Please provide a link to your blog if you have one; as well want all authors to post about the project so we can drive as many donation-sales as possible. This also provides link-love for each other.

You may choose to write whatever you like (personal anecdote, story, top 10 list, etc). Sample chapter types could follow one of these general themes below, but write what you’re passionate about!

  • Raising Money

  • Going From Idea to Product

  • Getting The Word Out

  • The Entrepreneurial Mindset

  • Leadership

Who Is Behind 50Founders?

50 Founders is the brainchild of Peter Corbett and Sam Huleatt - both of whom are passionate entrepreneurs who seek to help others while they go after their dreams. By committing all book sale profit to a worthy charity, they hope to ignite 50 Founders’ interest in providing valuable insight to the world.
